Luxembourg Rated AAA by Three Major Credit Rating Agencies

Written by: Bridgewest

In September, Standard and Poor’s (S&P), reaffirmed Luxembourg’s AAA rating, after Moody’s and Fitch announced the same ratings in the previous months. Three agencies have credited Luxembourg with AAA ratings

The good economic state of Luxembourg is verified on a yearly basis by the three largest financial agencies in the world as foreign investors are very interested in this country. Known as a reputable financial center not only in Europe, but all over the world, Luxembourg is one of the most sought investment destinations for a long time, hence the interest of credit agencies in it.

During the summer, S&P, Fitch and Moody’s have all renewed their ratings for Luxembourg. The good news is that all three agencies have maintained their previous ratings: AAA. This is highest rating a country can obtain according to S&P and provides for economic growth and a high employment level for the next year.

Fitch also maintained Luxembourg’s rating and even placed the small country among the 9 best ranking countries in the world. As for Moody’s, it only updated the previous rating by commending Luxembourg for the innovation industry and the good supervisory systems for the financial industry.

All agencies have issued stable outlooks for Luxembourg

Luxembourg is among the few countries to have all three credit rating agencies’ best ratings. Moreover, the agencies also announced a stable outlook for Luxembourg for the next period. If S&P provided for economic growth above the average increase to be registered by the euro zone, Fitch had a positive outlook for the public finances and the savings measures Luxembourg intends to take on the long run. As for Moody’s, it issued a stable outlook based on the good economic prospects Luxembourg is bound to have in 2017.

In the light of these ratings, the government underlined the importance of enabling new tools for the development of other industries in Luxembourg.
